It is the nature of every luminous object to shed light all around, And yet, a particular beam of light coming forth from it, gives more Illumination than light spread all around. This may be seen in the light of the sun.
Hazrat Inayat Khan

We turn towards nourishing the aquifer of light within ourselves,
through teachings, practices, and prayers. There will be opportunities
for questions, sharing insights, and self-reflection.

We set our intention, to be a being of light and compassion in our
world, for the sake of all beings, and the healing of our Mother Earth.

Sources of contemplation from Hazrat Inayat Khan, Jelaluddin Rumi,
Ibn Arabi, the Qur’an and The prayer of light of the Prophet.

The light which comes from the soul, rises through the heart, and manifests itself outwardly in our smile, it is indeed the light from heaven. In that light many flowers grow and many fruits ripen.

Shakina Reinhertz

Shakina’s longing for truth and awakening led her to Hazrat Inayat Khan, The Mevlevi Way, and Buddhism. For forty years she immersed herself in these traditions. During twenty of those years, her work in
the world was with teenagers in lock-up, survivors of domestic violence, and child abuse prevention. She is an advocate for women’s rights.

In 1994, Taj Inayat became her guide, introducing her to inquiry. While at the Abode, she completed her book, “Women called to the Path of Rumi.” which received international attention. Shakina and her husband, Hadi returned to California as Representatives of the Inayatiyya Order, Center leaders in Vallejo, and led Universal Worship in Berkeley.

Shakina began teaching ” Introduction to Sufism” and leading Mevlevi Zikr at the Interfaith Chaplaincy Institute. She created “Founding Islam: Her story” for Starr King Ministry. She was a guest speaker at the International Women’s Conference in Istanbul in 2002.

This fall, her weekly class of Rumi’s Masnavi is finishing the sixth volume. She continues to practice Tai Chi and attend to her garden of awakening.
